Elite Tutorials founders Chris and Kay Haycock
The agency was created in 2003 by husband and wife team, Chris and Kay Haycock.
Chris, a graduate of Maths, has been tutoring for 22 years and currently teaches in the Telford area: Maths up to GCSE level, English up to KS3 & 11+. Meanwhile Kay, a graduate of History, has been tutoring for 23 years and currently also teaches in the Telford area: English up to A level, Maths at KS1/KS2 and 11+
Both Chris (a graduate of Maths) and Kay (a graduate of History), while working as tutors in the London (North, East, South and West) and Hertfordshire areas, recognised the weaknesses within the schools system. In particular, they noticed how many of the children they were tutoring had not been achieving their potential at school. However, with one hour weekly regular tuition, the students they taught gained confidence and understanding in subjects and were able to catch up and even excel academically.
Both Chris and Kay, while working as tutors in the London and Hertfordshire areas, recognised the weaknesses within the schools system and how many of the children they were tutoring had not been achieving their potential at school. They also saw how 1 to 1 tuition can help students realise their full ability educationally, as well as building confidence and making them a more assured child.

Reason no 1
1) Due to large class sizes these days, many children have fallen behind at school, and perhaps your child has been too shy to ask the teacher when they don’t understand. The result is often a frustrated child, who loses confidence or even interest in learning.
Many parents want to help their child with the things they don’t understand, but either they don’t necessarily have the expertise in that particular subject or level, or simply don’t have the time in our busy modern world.

Reason no 2
2) Many schools these days have had to use supply teachers, which often causes a disruption to a child’s education.
For example, in Maths, a supply teacher may not realise that the class has not been taught Percentages, and so when it comes to an end of term test, your child is not fully prepared.
Many parents have contacted us for tuition, because their child has had several supply teachers throughout the year, generally with different teaching methods of teaching a topic, and so their child has ended up confused with how to tackle a particular topic (such as Adding Mixed Fractions), and the class lacks a sense of continuity of teaching.

3) Although your child may be doing well at school, you may wish to have a tutor to help them achieve the highest targets, such as:
(a) To gain the A level grade they need to get into their chosen University.
(b) To prepare for an 11+ exam for a grammar or independent school, or
(c) To achieve the GSCE grade needed to be able to either follow an A level course they desire, or even for gaining a job.
